Seven Deadly Sin Watch: The American Right and Its Bumper Stickers

The Psalm 109 bumper sticker crowd is guilty of two deadly sins: Wrath and the deadliest sin, Pride (Superbia in Latin). It’s one thing to be angered by a president’s policies, it’s quite another to wish him dead. To presume to know the will of God—to invoke (even in veiled terms) scripture to incite assassination—is Pride personified. I fear that First and Second Amendment fetishists may fell Obama. To my American friends: please pray for your president’s safety and for love to soften the hearts of the radical right.

This newscast segment epitomizes religious fanatacism, in it's most dangerous, and extreme form.
When I listen to this, it makes me absolutely terrified to think that such a mentality exists in a, so-called "developed nation".
I like the parallel Frank Schaffer makes with this being an American form of the Taliban.
Not only does it exemplify the "deadly sins" of pride and wrath, it also demonstrates a level of hypocrisy that feebly attempts to hide behind scripture, and so called, " religious freedom". (Now, THERE'S an oxymoron for you!)
    Truly, this is Scary stuff!!!
